Thomas Ray Shahan was born on December 4th, 1984, and left us on July 8th, 2026. He was 41 years old.
Tom was the son of Gary and Sue (Price) Shahan. He was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He graduated from Mount Pleasant Christian School in 2003, and studied Auto body repair at Southeastern Community College. Tom ran his own repair shop at his residence. He repaired cars by day and raised his children by night.
Kira Perron was the lucky lady to be married to Tom for 13 long, long years. In those years, Tom and Kira had 3 wonderful children. Jude, the practice child; Eleanor, the good one; and Abraham, the definite Shahan boy- if you know, you know.
Tom was known as the man of many talents and radical thinking. He could fix anything he set his mind to, would cook anything his family asked, and they asked for a lot. Eleanor will yell from the mountain tops the greatness of her daddy’s pancakes. His hands were rarely still. He loved working on engines, hunting, cooking, and spending time with family. He was a member of New Song Christian Life Church.
Tom is survived by his lovely wife, Kira, and their three cute kids: Jude, Eleanor, and Abe. Awesome parents, Gary and Sue Shahan. The best Brother, Mike (Whitney) and children: Walker, Avery, and Colt. Paternal Grandparents, Betty Shahan, Kirksville, MO; Jack Shahan, Okeechobee, FL. Maternal Grandmother, Janet Price. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Price.
Memorial Service will be held 3:00pm, Thursday, July 16th, 2026, at Olson-Yoder Funeral Home. Pastor Brian Swafford will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at the Airport Road Vineyard and Winery in rural Mount Pleasant. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Tom’s children. The Olson-Yoder Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Tom and his family.
