Nadine Martin

Nadine Martin, 75, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Nadine was born February 20, 1951, in Henry County, the daughter of Vern A. and Gwendolyn L. (Dold) Peterson. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1969. Following high school Nadine attended Cosmetology School. On June 18, 1971, Nadine was united in marriage to Merritt W. Martin at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. Together, they built their home in Mount Pleasant and raised two children. Nadine worked as a dispatcher and radio operator for Access Energy. She was a devoted member of their team, working for 36 years before retiring in 2012. In her younger years, Nadine enjoyed riding motorcycles with Merritt. She was a lover of cats and the Iowa Hawkeyes! Additionally, Nadine could often be found playing piano, playing cards, painting, reading, and working on puzzles. Nadine loved having dinner out with friends, always an evening full of memories and laughter.

Nadine will be dearly missed by her daughter Angie (Ben) Withers of Waverly; son Seth Martin of Coralville; grandchildren Cody and Tyler Wildman, Jackson and Cash Withers; sister-in-law Marlene Deck of Sugar Grove, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merritt in 2013, daughter Christine, brother Darrell Peterson, and brother-in-law Rich Deck.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the Forest Home Cemetery. Joan Rodgers will officiate. The family will greet friends following the graveside service from 12 – 3 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Memorials may directed to Southeastern Renal Dialysis, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community and Mount Pleasant Public Library. The Olson-Yoder Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Nadine and her family.
