Maureen Edwards

Maureen Edwards, 71, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Keosauqua Healthcare Center.

Maureen was born October 14, 1954, in Fairfield, the daughter of Maurice and Margaret (Lee) Millard. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1973. On November 21, 1973, Maureen was united in marriage to David Edwards at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Maureen and David met through Community Theatre, where Maureen’s exceptional organization backstage helped ensure that each production ran smoothly. She worked as a cashier at various stores including Dave’s Supermarket, Pamida, Wal-Mart, and the Oakland Mills Store. Additionally, she was a librarian for a few years at the Mount Pleasant Library and proof-reader for the Mount Pleasant Newspaper. She loved working in the yard and feeding hummingbirds. Maureen thoroughly enjoyed being around people.

Maureen is survived by her husband David; son Derek Edwards of Mount Pleasant; daughter Erica (O’Dean) Wright of Kitchener, Ontario; grandchildren Linda, Maggie and Noah; brother Ray (Rita) Millard of New London; and sister Mary Stoner of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Marlo, and sister Laura.

Graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, in the Oakland Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Olson-Yoder Funeral Home, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established for All God’s Creatures. The Olson-Yoder Funeral Home is caring for Maureen and her family.
