Floyd R. Drummond, 76, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Floyd was born December 3, 1949, in Fort Madison, the son of Floyd W. and Delpha G. (Bunker) Drummond. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and attended Indian Hills Community College to study Culinary Arts. On July 14, 1973, Floyd was united in marriage to Marlene Clark at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Floyd enlisted in the United States Navy where he faithfully served for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, the couple moved their family back to the Mount Pleasant community where Floyd worked at the Iris Restaurant, Walmart, and the Henry County Health Center kitchen. Floyd enjoyed tinkering with small engines and fixed many lawn mowers over the years.

Floyd is survived by his two children Matthew Drummond and Melissa Drummond both of Burlington; brother Ralph Drummond of Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Marlene.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Olson-Yoder Funeral Home, with Joan Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the North Hill Cemetery, in Wayland. Military rites will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Monday, June 29, from 2:00 – 6:00 at the Olson-Yoder Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Mount Pleasant VFW.
